Why stay at Molweni in the Kamberg Valley?
We’d love to host you at Molweni! Here’s what makes our location ideal for you:
Incredible views of both the Kamberg and Giant’s Castle, part of the Maloti-Drakensberg mountain range.
Close to three nature reserves, including the renowned Kamberg Rock Art Centre, where mystical San art can be explored.
A variety of outdoor activities in all directions. Hiking, mountain biking, fly fishing, and birdwatching.
We offer a quiet, countryside escape, just a few hours from Durban or Johannesburg—ideal for nature lovers and road-trippers alike.
At Molweni Bed & Breakfast, guests find a home-away-from-home. Our five en-suite bedrooms blend the rustic charm of a historic 19th-century farmhouse with the thoughtful touches that make a stay truly comfortable. Curl up by the wood-burning fireplace in winter, or enjoy a quiet moment in our garden in the sun, with the birds, butterflies and bees!
What is the best base for exploring the Central Drakensberg?
The Kamberg Valley is a hidden gem within South Africa’s UNESCO-listed uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park. Its central location makes it the perfect base for day trips to iconic destinations like:
Sani Pass: A dramatic mountain pass that connects South Africa and Lesotho (passports required for border crossing)
Giants Castle Nature Reserve: Home to famous rock art, challenging hikes, and stunning views
Northern Drakensberg: Ideal for exploring sites like Amphitheatre and Tugela Falls
When you return from your day of exploring, we provide a warm, welcoming space to relax, recharge, and reflect.
What does ‘Molweni’ mean?
‘Molweni’ is a Xhosa greeting meaning “hello”, when addressing more than one person. When choosing to name our B&B, we felt this name reflects the spirit of our home—warm, inclusive, and rooted in local culture.

Fantastic base from which to explore the beautiful Kamberg. The B&B is perfect for a weekend away. Kamberg accommodation ideally located for both the Highmoor and Kamberg reserves. The hosts, Janet and Sean, were welcoming and attentive and definitely went the extra mile for us. The meals were excellent and our whole experience, means we can unreservedly recommend Molweni Kamberg Valley B&B.
